Trip Details
After departure, we’ll head out through the mouth of Durrumbil (Bruns River) into Sea Country in search of Baawi (Whale). With over 30,000 Humpback whales migrating past Walgun (Cape Byron) each year, it is the perfect place to see them as they swim close to our stunning coastline. On board, we also have a marine scientist to impart knowledge about whales and other marine animals, and a hydrophone to listen to whale song.

Next is a visit to Nguthungulli (Julian Rocks), a marine sanctuary and important cultural site. From here, Delta will share Dreaming stories and explain how Bundjalung people not only utilise Sea Country resources, but also how they rely heavily on their connection to both the land and sea as a part of their ceremonial and spiritual practices.

We’ll then make our way back and explore the beautiful Durrumbil. Surrounded by mangroves, wetlands and rainforest, it is an area rich in biodiversity, as well as holding great significance to Bundjalung people. Delta will discuss important ceremonial and cultural sites within the Durrumbil area and share traditional stories passed down from her elders.
